I would go to a friend's hospital to have blood drawn, collect it in a test tube, and bring it back to the studio in an ice bucket. While continuously chanting "Namo Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva," I would begin a walking meditation practice. First, I'd add water to an inkstone and grind cinnabar ink sticks, then mix cinnabar powder evenly with blood and water. As needed, I'd dip a brush into the mixture to achieve the appropriate consistency, then start drawing circles horizontally from the top left of the paper to the right. Upon reaching the right edge, I'd move down one line and continue drawing from right to left, repeating this back-and-forth "pen walking" until the entire sheet of paper was filled. The entire process involved continuously chanting the Bodhisattva's name.

This walking meditation, or jingxing, was performed by chanting the name, using a brush to draw with blood and cinnabar. My eyes observed the brushstrokes, my mouth recited the Bodhisattva's name, and my heart respectfully submitted to the Bodhisattva's vows and practice.
