Hugging Project consisted of my hugging and measuring the 13 artists at MoMA PS1 from 2003-2004. As each artist and I hugged each other, I press my right-hand fingernail into my left arm to indicate the size of the body. The marks made by my fingernails were recorded by a marker and served as a scale used for measurement while the artists wrote down his/her name on my arm. The processes were repeated until all the artists were measured. My left arm was then documented by photograph. Afterwards, I hugged myself with both arms and pressed into my back with my fingernails. The marks were recorded with a marker while my back was photographed. At that point, all the measures of the size of each visiting artist were marked on my body. It is always difficult to measure friendship, but I wanted to capture the year the artists and I spent together with something concrete. Something very interesting, though, was that the marks left behind after the hugs seemed to imply how Taiwan has only few friends in the international community as well as the ideological divergence held by the people of Taiwan.
〈擁抱計劃〉是以手臂環抱的方式，測量、紀錄2003-2004年所有駐村MoMA PS1當代藝術中心的十三位國際藝術家的身圍。我與駐村藝術家們雙臂環繞擁抱，用右手指甲在左臂內側壓出環抱該人身圍的痕跡。用馬克筆畫出刻度，請對方寫上名字。持續這些動作，直到測量完所有駐村藝術家的身圍。拍攝紀錄左臂。後來再以雙臂環抱自己，用雙手的指甲在背部壓出環抱的痕跡。請人用馬克筆畫出刻度並寫上自己的名字。拍攝紀錄背部。於是，所有PS1駐村藝術家的身圍都測量、紀錄在我的身體上。
友情原本難以測量，但是我想把這一段與藝術家們一起生活、創作一年時間的友情留下具體可見的紀錄。然而有趣的是，展露在擁抱後所留下的每一個刻度中，卻暗喻台灣在國際上友邦的稀少與國內意識形態的分裂。
