Normally, I took the High Speed Railway from Taipei Artists Village back home to Kaohsiung. Therefore, I wanted to measure the distance from room 301 in Taipei Artist Village to the HSR entrance in Taipei Main Station. This was the path I had to take to go home. I wore a pair of New Balance sneakers and took one small step after another, touching the heel of one foot to the toes of another foot and moving forward through these mini-steps. Each step would be defined as one “New Balance” and the number of steps taken was measured until I reached the HSR entrance in Taipei Main Station. It took 2294 New Balances from my studio to the HSR entrance.
“Metric foot” used to mean the length of one’s foot. I used the length of my own foot and a brand to redefine length and to express my experience through personalized language. I also chose New Balance sneakers because it implies a theme important to my life - maintaining blood sugar balance. In The Way of Going Home, I needed to make it home by balancing my blood sugar while walking.

一般而言，從台北國際藝術村回高雄的家，我都是搭乘台灣高速鐵路。我於是想測量從台北國際藝術村301工作室到台北車站台灣高鐵入口處的距離，這是一段回家必走的路。我腳穿一雙New Balance的球鞋，以前腳連後腳的方式移步，每一步定義為一個「New Balance」，前進計數，直到台北車站台灣高鐵入口處。結果從藝術家工作室到高鐵入口處為2294個「New Balance」。
英呎這個單位，原本來自足長，我用自己的足長以及品牌重新定義一段長度，傳達一份經驗，個人化的語彙。同時選擇New Balance品牌的球鞋，關係到我個人一生的一個課題，保持平衡的血糖。〈回家的路〉，一段回家必走的路程，必須是以血糖平衡的方式走回去。
