Kaohsiung Awards 2007 and the 24th Kaohsiung Fine Arts Exhibition: Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts
Past exhibition
Overview
The Kaohsiung Award is a highly anticipated event in Taiwan’s art scene and serves as a prominent platform for emerging artists to showcase their talents. In 2007, to enhance the quality of submissions, the organizers discontinued the practice of acquiring award-winning works through purchase, instead offering cash prizes as a pure form of encouragement for artistic creation. In addition to material rewards, the 2007 Kaohsiung Award implemented a comprehensive jury system. The initial review was conducted by medium-based categories, with an observer invited to participate throughout the entire first-round judging process and continue into the second-round review, which was conducted without category divisions. After a rigorous one-and-a-half-day review filled with thorough discussions, the Kaohsiung Award winners were carefully selected. The 2007 recipients included the already active artist Shi Jin-Hua, along with emerging talents Su Yu-Hsien, Lai Pei-Yu, Lin Ching-Fang, and Chuang Tsung-Hsun.
