September 8, 2021
"The Rocks Return to Soil Where the Heart Belongs", currently underway at the Taitung Art Museum, is the latest solo-exhibition of renowned artist SHI Jin-Hua. When going through his late father's collection of rocks, the artist closely observes their colors and textures, and has since made a series of paintings, sketches and calligraphy through which he expresses his thoughts on a number of subjects. They include the state of living during the ongoing pandemic as well as the relations between the past and the present, the internal and the external of the human mind. The artists also takes the opportunity to experiment with new forms of expressions. The mixture of calligraphy and ink brush painting is, according to SHI, an experiment and a return to the traditional practices of Chinese liberati artists. "The Rocks Return to Soil Where the Heart Belongs" is scheduled to run from Aug. 28 to October 24, 2021, at the Taitung Art Museum.
