The Joke Project is a conceptual work that reflects on and satirizes the production and exhibition mechanisms of contemporary culture. By integrating exhibition, documentation, and archival materials, the project simultaneously presents the "visible outcomes" and the "invisible processes" of contemporary art.
The work consists of two components:
1. Joke Images & Texts: Structured as a diptych with imagery on the left and text on the right, these works provide a clinical contrast that challenges the visual-textual logic of capitalist media.
2. Process Documents: A systematic collection of archival materials documenting the trajectory from conception to grant applications, venue negotiations, production, promotion, and final financial reconciliation.
The project highlights the power dynamic between the individual and the institution, exposing the interactive context between the artist, the media, and the art apparatus. It serves as a metaphor for the exhaustion of cultural activities: "You hear it, you laugh, and then it’s over."
《笑話計畫》是一件反思諷喻當代文化藝術展演與生產機制的觀念性作品。藉著展覽、紀錄與文件，將當代藝術中「可見的結果」與「不可見的過程」同時呈現出來。 作品分兩部分，一是「笑話圖文」：構成形式是左邊影像，右邊文字，二者提供一種冷凝的對比，挑戰資本主義傳媒慣用的影像文字邏輯。二是「過程文件」：計畫性的收集、製作文件，呈現從創作構想到申請創作補助、接洽場地檔期、製作作品、買廣告、找藝評、佈展、結案核銷的過程。 這個計畫凸顯個人與體制的權力關係，呈現藝術家與他作品、媒體、藝術機制互動的脈絡，進而成為閱讀與詮釋作品的脈絡。它同時隱喻當代文化藝術活動的功能與消耗，似乎就像笑話一樣：「看了，聽了，笑一笑，就算了吧」。
